Blowhardiness is a Sin!

Where to begin with these award shows. I guess I'll start by saying... WHAT?!?! First off, let me also say that the sheer number of awards shows these days has gotten WAY out of control. There are awards shows for everything. Here is a short list of some of the ones we have heard of.
* The Oscars
* The Golden Globes
* The Grammys
* The Daytime Emmys
* The Nighttime Emmys
* The SAG Awards
* The Independent Spirit Awards
* The Screen Actor's Guild Awards
* The People's Choice Awards
* The Critic's Awards
* The Tony's
* The Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards
* The Academy of Country Music Awards
* The British Academy Television Awards
* The MTV Music Awards
* The MTV Video Music Awards
* The American Music Awards
* The Video Game Awards
* The ESPY'S
* The Prime time Cartoon Awards
* The Image Awards
* The BET Awards
* The AVN Awards (the only one that really matters)

I could go on and on. There are literally hundreds I have left off. Now don't get me wrong, I enjoy Music, TV, Movies, Cartoons, video games, and the rest of the things these awards are being handed out in recognition of. I also think that the men and women getting these awards are, for the most part, talented people in their fields. The trouble I have with awards shows mainly comes from the absurd and obscene amounts of money thrown around. I heard that for this year's Oscars, the gift bags that were given to the nominees and presenters were worth upwards of $25,000!! That's right, $25,000! The designer gowns and jewels worn to these events cost gaudy amounts of money. I find it to be very hypocritical of many of these Hollywood blowhards. If any of them even cared a marginal amount of what they portray themselves to, they would be boycotting these awards, especially in these tough times, and telling the awards show producers to give the money spent to put on these events to good causes. We could fund the building of a school with the money the Oscars create by themselves. Our country is facing real dangers at this delicate time in history. We have so many more things to be focused on and spending our energy doing. We should be as interested in the bailouts as we are with what designer gown Angelina Jolie is wearing, or whether or not Jennifer Aniston and John Mayer are going to ever tie the knot. It disappoints me to no end that these are the things Americans hold dear to their hearts. Our country is falling and no one is there to pick it up because we are all too fixated on the Octomom, or Britney's hair cuts. Wake up people, because if you don't, while you are preoccupied, our country is being reoccupied.....by foreign money!!!!

Face-Schmuck

Did I miss the memo about facebook headlines? Apparently I did, because I was not apprised that facebook was the place to let the world know every uninteresting detail about yourself and your boring life. I 'm barely interested in my own life half the time. I mean come on, do I need to know the following things about you? And yes, these are real and true facebook headlines from just this last week alone... (Names have been deleted to protect the guilty.....you know who you are)

If you feel the need to write something on your headline, please at least make it something productive. A great quote, something to make people think, send someone in need some words of encouragement or support, plug your band's show. But please, stop telling us every little thing you do throughout the day. The people that really matter to you and care probably already know these things about you.
